01Build the estimate from the real job.
A useful estimate starts with a clear picture of what is moving, the route, and access at both properties. The more complete the information is up front, the better the move can be planned.
- Room-by-room furniture and box inventory
- Origin, destination, and preferred date range
- Stairs, elevators, gates, parking, and long carries
- Large, fragile, or unusually heavy items
- What pickup, transportation, delivery, and placement should include
02Use a simple long-distance timeline.
When the road is longer, prepare both the household and the destination. Start as soon as the route is known, then tighten the details as move day approaches.
- Confirm both addresses and a preferred date range
- Reduce what will not make the trip
- Arrange keys, parking, and access at both properties
- Label boxes by destination room
- Keep an essentials bag outside the household load
03Set aside items that need a separate plan.
Some belongings should be carried personally or discussed with Jeff before move day. Never assume a hazardous, perishable, highly valuable, or specialized item can travel with the household load.
- Fuel, propane, fireworks, and hazardous chemicals
- Perishable or temperature-sensitive items
- Identification, medicines, keys, jewelry, and financial records
- Pianos, safes, machinery, and oversized specialty pieces
04Prepare furniture before pickup or delivery.
A single furniture piece still needs a complete path from pickup to placement. Photos, measurements, and access details prevent avoidable surprises.
- Photograph and measure the furniture
- Measure doors, halls, stair turns, elevators, and gates
- Confirm the pickup contact and availability window
- Clear the route at both locations
- Choose the destination room before arrival
05Keep move-day essentials with you.
The items you need immediately should never disappear into a stack of boxes. Keep them together, easy to reach, and outside the moving load.
- Charged phone, keys, and property contacts
- Medicines, identification, and important documents
- Chargers, basic toiletries, and a change of clothes
- Water and simple snacks
- A final room-by-room walkthrough before departure
